There are many ways to slow down the game of baseball in order for your mental prowess to overpower and Dominate the Competition. One in particular is an affirmation. This practice of Positive Self Talk helps slow down your mind, your heart rate, and your breathing. With this enhanced focus creates a better pathway to desired results. Since that is what we work for and think about how to do so around the clock, I am going to make this short and to the point and you can begin this as soon as your are done ready…Maybe sooner… With that said, let’s tap into the Power of I AM for Pitchers.
The POWER of I AM
for PITCHERS
Stay In the Present
Affirmations, when used correctly, do bring a great deal of positivity. The statements of Yes I Can or I Will can bring elation when fighting off adversity. However, the 2 aforementioned statements exist in the future tense. They haven’t happened yet and certainly come without a guarantee. Once the initial dopamine rush wears off and reality is still looking right at you, they were nothing more than a mere inclination of hope instead of actuality. In addition to that, when looking to the future, one becomes anxious. Thus, defeating the purpose.
For optimal results, you have to drill deeper past the surface and say I AM. I AM is the state of NOW. It triggers the sense of urgency which all winners occupy.
I AM GOING TO THROW MY FASTBALL
LOW AND AWAY FOR A STRIKE,
I AM.

Functioning
The I AM affirmation statements are used most effectively when they coincide with your breathing. This practice was perfected by the late Dr. Wayne Dyer. It is quite simple for yourself to implement and reap the immediate benefits.
As you inhale slowly through your stomach, state your affirmation.
Such as:
I AM PREPARED.
As you exhale, simply say:
I AM

Executing the Mechanism
As pitchers, we are frequently saying to ourselves, I AM on the mound. Though, when the situation gets tense, the Fight or Flight instinct takes over. This is where you have hit the pause button.
Watch the video here below, as former MLB pitching coach, Rick Peterson, talks about hitting the pause button.
I AM can be the pause button to give you clarity throughout the inevitable adversity. This is key to minimizing damage by staying focused to make one pitch at a time.
I AM THROWING MY SLIDER
WITH THE WINNING RUN ON 3B,
I AM
You can repeat the same statement as many times you feel necessary until you feel conviction. Or you can go through a checklist of statements. They can either be pre decided or spontaneous. This comes down to how the individual handles a situation. Even in the toughest of settings, you will begin to feel a prominent difference after just a few repetitions of the internal routine.

Getting Comfortable
Personally, I go through this series of affirmations before I fall asleep each night. It calms my body and puts my mind at ease as I express my gratitude for that which life has blessed me.
Your Subconscious mind expands its identity as you sleep. So what you feed your subconscious with in the last few minutes before you drift away every night, is what you will develop into over time. Obviously, you are what you think!
The more you practice this away from competition better prepares you to use this powerful tool, when it comes time to produce results.
Want an Awakening Experience…?
Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall,
Who is the Best of Them All?
I AM
For all of you high achieving performers, do these while looking in the mirror. The one looking back at you will let it be known, if you are not authentic in your convictions, and call you out on your lack of commitment, without even saying a word. True Conviction comes from being honest with yourself.
I AM READY TO COMPETE,
I AM.
yes.
I AM DOMINANT,
I AM.
Keep Dominating!!!
