Pitching 101: Stay in the Moment #2MPM

Spread the love

Stay in the MomentWhen you get too far ahead of yourself, you get anxious. Dwelling on the past makes you depressed. So why would you pitch under these mental strains? To be successful as a pitcher, you have to understand the importance to stay in the moment. Your job is to make one pitch at a time while competing to win as many pitches as possible. 1 by 1 that is…

In order to do so, all variables, good or bad must be blocked out when focusing on the task. Everything from Bad calls, errors, and taking a shellacking to pitching with a lead, excessive run support, or a blissful moment that baseball brings. The best pitchers in the game maintain the same posture and composure regardless of the score or situation. They understand how to do their job and the accountability that comes with it.

Stay in the Moment
Make it Happen!

In other #2MPM videos, I talk about rising to the occasion and stepping out of one’s comfort zone on the mound. When the situation presses a pitcher, he has to respond accordingly in competition. Even if it is something that you normally wouldn’t do. Nonetheless, the main focus is always to stay in the moment and make 1 pitch at a time. When you master this aspect of pitching, you will no longer beat yourself. This forces opponents to beat you at your best. It also is a sign of maturity in a pitcher that important people at the next level look for when scouting and recruiting.

Master staying in the moment, and the odds will now be in your favor. Not to mention, this makes you more InDemand. As it strengthens you as competitor. You are making the game better also.
